Under a Blue Sun plot

The Sylvester Stallone vehicle “Rambo III” (1988) is both a superficial commentary on the failure of war to resolve conflicts and a surreal interpretation of American exceptionalism through the actions of an individual. Although the story is set in Afghanistan and the hero defeats the Russian army, the film was shot in the Israeli desert, with help from that country's army. Filmmaker Daniel Mann uses different approaches in his analysis of what was for most viewers a mindless shooting film, but for Mann is a work of different meanings.
