Twee Levens plot
On December 12, 1985 Maarten Visser disappears during a trip through Chile. His parents, Paulus and Loes Visser, immediately leave for the country to look for their son and since then they have returned every year to continue their search. Filled with hopes and fears, they demand attention in the local media and refresh their posters. Maarten has thus dominated family life for 25 years. Filmmaker Fifi Visser goes with her parents to Chile for the first time. She follows them on the umpteenth journey along well-known addresses. The visits made, the short interviews with her parents and the fragments of Maarten's letters illustrate the despair. New information provides a trail that leads them to the Colonia Dignidad. This community, founded by former Nazi Paul Schäfer, served as a torture center under Pinochet. But no one can help them further. While Loes refuses to accept that Maarten is dead, Paulus seems to have reconciled with it.
