Tristan Forever plot
For thirty years, Loran Bonnardot, a doctor from Paris, has been visiting Tristan da Cunha, the most remote inhabited island in the world, in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. The volcanic island has become Loran's spiritual sanctuary, the inhabitants his chosen family, and the fisherman Martin his best friend. Now, at the age of 50, Loran steps aboard the boat again, but this time he has no intention of returning: he wants to become one of the 230 permanent residents – no easy task, since the island council will decide whether or not he is admitted.
