On October 15, 2009, a father in Fort Collins, Colorado called 911 to report that his homemade hot air balloon had flown away with his six-year-old son aboard. The report was confirmed by footage from a news helicopter that followed the balloon and broadcast the event on television. Everyone scrambled to come up with a plan to safely rescue "Balloon Boy." But what seemed like a tragedy soon took a sharp turn into something else.
