Tigmi Nigren plot
A remote village in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The winters here are so cold that people hardly dare to leave their homes and the children stop going to school. The beauty returns with spring, says 16-year-old Khadija. Her older sister Fatima is getting married at the end of the summer, and an air of melancholy hangs over the last time they spend together: sharing the bed, doing housework, together in the fields and nature. Khadija likes going to school and dreams of becoming a lawyer, provided the male elders allow it. Fatima is believed to be moving to Casablanca with her husband. She is afraid of getting married, afraid of the unknown, and she also wants to work no matter what.
