The Trouble with Aid plot

Almost half a century ago, the phenomenon of humanitarian aid emerged. It seemed so simple: where people were in need, help had to be provided. The sick had to be nursed, the hungry fed, the refugees taken care of. Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam, the Red Cross and many other organizations raised money to lend a helping hand worldwide. What started as simple idealism has grown into a massive aid economy that is not only applauded but also criticized.
