The Snow Calls plot
"Mina has three daughters but she lives in a society where giving birth to a boy is considered as a superiority. Mina is blamed because of this."
After three daughters, Mina has one more chance: her next child has to be a boy, otherwise her husband will marry another woman. Such is the tradition. The heavily pregnant Mina and her family live in southwestern Iran, where the rules of the Bakhtiari tribe apply. The mother-to-be this time forgoes an ultrasound, for fear of the result and the associated gossip in the area. After all, the pressure from her in-laws is already high enough; though Mina also continues to keep people by her side.
