The Man from Mo'Wax plot
DJ at 14, label boss at 18 and millionaire at 21 – welcome to the world of James Lavelle (1974), founder of the successful dance and trip-hop label Mo'Wax and discoverer of many musical talents, from DJ Krush to DJ Shadow, whose 1996 debut album Endtroducing was highly successful both artistically and commercially. Lavelle and DJ Shadow then worked together in the project UNKLE that was equally successful. After that, arguments, drugs, relationship problems, the drying up of creativity, arrogance and narcissism took their toll: Lavelle's career quickly reached a low point. Very slowly he scrambled back up to get back into a music industry that looked very different from twenty years earlier.
