The Hunt plot
With approximately 200 hunting clubs with 250,000 members and supporters, England maintains an age-old aristocratic tradition. For many British people, fox hunting symbolizes traditional country life, but it also has its enemies. In The Hunt, Niek Koppen searches for the meaning of fox hunting in the countryside. The recording camera shows both idyllic images of the hunters and their dogs, as well as shocking images of dead horses and foxes, but the film does not take a position for or against the hunt. In Shopshire, for example, Koppen follows a 'hunting master' and his two floaters, but he also shows actions by animal activists.
