The Day I Will Never Forget plot

In The Day I Will Never Forget Kim Longinotto records a circumcision on a girl in Nairobi. Held by some women, she has a piece of cloth shoved into her mouth, and yet she screams - like a beast being led to slaughter. She shouldn't whine, her mother says. It is a given for these African Muslims that the clitoris of women must be cut away and the vagina partly sewn up. "That keeps the women clean and fresh."
