The Daily Nation plot
Kenya is a developing country, where corruption is rampant at all levels of society. The story of the English-language newspaper “The Daily Nation” is therefore primarily a story about the struggle to be objective and independent. The dedicated staff of managers and journalists and the mostly poor street vendors daily provide the Kenyan population with a constant flow of information about their own world, reminding them time and again of the importance of an independent press. 'It's all about what interests people, even if it's that lady with the dog… and what that white man was doing there', as one salesman says. This creates a kaleidoscopic picture of the reality of Kenya today.
