The Citadel plot
Hardly anyone goes climbing in the Neacola Mountains in the farthest reaches of the Great Alaskan Range. It is remote, the weather conditions are bad and there are no real high peaks. The 3,000m high 'Citadel' lies in these pristine mountains and is known locally as 'the mountain god'. It is a beautiful peak, but deadly due to the treacherous weather and great avalanche danger. The experienced British climbing duo Matt Helliker and Jon Bracey want to climb the Citadel via the impressive 1,200m long northwest wall.
