The Alabama Solution plot

The inequalities in the criminal justice system in the United States are vividly depicted in this documentary. The film primarily features footage shot by inmates at the Easterling Correctional Facility in Southeast Alabama, using cell phones and risking their own lives. Their videos shed light on the barbaric prison conditions and the abuse inflicted on prisoners by guards who act without fear of repercussions.

The Alabama Solution demonstrates in an original yet terrifying way that the US prison system is truly rotten and that corruption is rampant. Human lives don't matter, and those people can simply let things go "the Alabama Way." When you hear a white man from an investigative committee declare that every prisoner/criminal deserves the death penalty, but they can't do so simply because of federal law, you know that change is a long way off.

It's cringe-inducing and your confidence in the US, their justice system takes another hit with this documentary

The title refers to an expression suggesting that the state of Alabama prefers to solve problems independently. Jarecki and Kaufman were approached by several inmates who wanted to share their stories via a smuggled phone. A compelling exposé of a prison system that shows that Alabama still uses slavery as an economic model 160 years after the American Civil War.
