Svennis plot
"Don't be sorry, smile, remember the good times."
He was inspired, like many in Scandinavia, by the British system of play; simply 4-4-2, with a simple message – don’t make football more difficult than it is. He could handle the pressure of top-level sport well and never hid behind the players. If things went wrong, he took responsibility. He had been an average player, an inconspicuous right back, and he paid close attention to other coaches and other sports. It gave him a great career, with a European Cup later won, with Lazio in 1999, and a journey through countless countries, with countless beautiful jobs, here and there sprinkled with prizes. Benfica, Sampdoria, Lazio, Fiorentina and Manchester City were among his employers. Eriksson had a message several times, in the last phase of his life. Look out for each other, be kind.
