Sunday September 22 plot

For 1200 euros you can buy a crossing to Italy from a people smuggler in northern Tunisia. In groups of eighty people you are sailed over and thrown overboard just off the coast. The last 350 meters you have to swim - if you can. On the weekend of September 22, 2002, the sea was too rough for 14 Tunisians. They washed up on a Sicilian beach. An Italian photographer captured the tragedy. The photo, in which one of the drowning people is unsuccessfully resuscitated, was in all the newspapers worldwide.
