Subverses plot

'Subverses, La Chine au Mozambique' begins with the image of a Chinese businessman on one of the upper terraces that dominate Maputo. He stands with his back to us, anonymous and unrecognizable, on the phone and with the arrogance of a colonial ruler. This sets the tone for the film: a neo-colonial politics dominated by China and the European banks whereby China designs an entire infrastructure but does so without scruples and only thinks about the maximum profits they can get from it. A good example of pernicious global capitalism.
