Behind “The Door of Hope” in a dingy building in Tel Aviv lies a safe haven for addicted prostitutes. The vulnerable women don't need anything. “This is not a brothel”, it says on the door. They can rest for a while. Director Nirit Aharoni films these women in their most vulnerable moments: using, crying, dying or singing about love. At intimate moments she is close to the women, at night when they are soliciting in the grim streets of Tel Aviv, she films them from a distance. The maker takes his time and penetrates ever deeper into the lives of these women. She also learns more and more about herself…
