Strijdmakker plot

On April 4, 2016, VPRO icon Wim Brands passed away. He was known to the general public as the presenter of the program VPRO Boeken and also a poet, with six poetry collections to his name. This documentary about his life and work, made entirely from archive material, is a tribute to this television personality. A portrait that also focuses on his complicated relationship with death. With Karl Ove Knausgård, David Sedaris, Ellen Deckwitz and Pieter Boskma, among others. Brands' work merges with his rich inner life and the fact that he chose death himself at the age of 56 casts a shadow over everything.
