"Filmmakers Fallshaw and Ayala's journey of discovery among Saharawi refugees turns into a political thriller."
Fetim is a Saharawi refugee living in a refugee camp in Western Sahara controlled by the Polisario Front, a guerrilla or liberation army formed in 1973 to liberate Western Sahara from the Spanish occupying forces. At the age of 3 she was separated from her mother; through the UN they can participate in a family reunion. However, while filming this story, the filmmakers encountered a much harsher reality of slavery in the camps. To get out safely, they have to bury their tapes in the desert. They are suddenly in the middle of a humanitarian and political storm.
