Stedman plot

In 1772 the half-Dutch, half-Scottish John Gabriel Stedman embarked for Suriname to fight as a mercenary against rebellious slaves. Already during the crossing Stedman is bored and he starts a diary, complete with drawings. Until his return to the Netherlands, Stedman continues to write in his diary - about his infatuation with slave Joanna and the hardships in the impenetrable jungle.
