When the war against IS in Iraq is almost over, the refugees of Mosul want to return to their old homes and lives. We follow eleven-year-old Ala's struggle to make sense of her life during and after the war. As the eldest daughter of the family, she has many responsibilities, but when she doesn't have to take care of her brothers for a while, she turns out to have dreams herself. She misses her old life, her school and her grandparents, to whom she writes letters. Ala has a fervent wish: to return to her home in Mosul to plant a beautiful garden.
