Srbenka plot

Rehearsals for a play about the fraught ethnic murder of a Serbian teenager in 1991 are increasingly turning into collective psychotherapy. With the play, the Croatian theater director Oliver Frljić wants to expose unprocessed war traumas, which in present-day Croatia mean that children with Serbian roots are still bullied and threatened. A 12-year-old girl in the game says she cried when she found out she's Serbian. Why are young children already aware of their ethnicity? And why do they have to hide their origins?
