Smile & Wave plot
Filmmaker Marijke Jongbloed traveled to Kabul, in the wake of a platoon of Dutch soldiers in the service of the international peace force ISAF. She got very close to them with the camera and managed to capture the personal experiences of these boys in an intimate way. It is a mixed group, the one full of bravado, the other involved and thoughtful. The men are well trained, but they don't get much action. When seven young people are shot dead by the police during student riots in the city, the frustration about the limited powers of ISAF is great.
