Septiembres plot
Every year in September a song festival is held in a prison just outside Madrid. Inmates from different prisons participate, both men and women. This film follows some of them for a year. In the beginning of the film we see the preparations for the festival. The participants have carefully chosen the song they are going to sing, and they all dedicate their song to a loved one. One longs for his or her loved one, the other misses the family. Norma has already won the festival a few times. She has not seen her daughter, who thinks her mother is abroad for work, for several years. Beto can't bring himself to tell his grandmother that he is in prison. For José, who has to serve several more years because of heroin possession, life is made bearable by his girlfriend Fortu, who is also in prison. Only occasionally do the lovers see each other, usually with a glass pane between them, and if they are lucky, in a closed room, where they can be together for a short time. It is true for all that love and desire give meaning to life behind bars.
