Self Made plot
Hundreds of people responded to director Gillian Wearing's ad as it appeared in local and national newspapers, online and in job centers around London and Newcastle. The advertisement called for taking part in an experiment in which people had to film themselves. Seven people were selected for the workshops. The workshops are led by experienced teacher Sam Rumbelow and form the core of the documentary. As the documentary progresses, and the participants use their experiences to bring characters to life, they use that to star in their own mini-movie.
