Runaway plot
Directors Kim Longinotto and Ziba Mir-Hosseini visit a shelter in Tehran for girls who have run away from home. Although society and their families have taught them to always obey and never to be brutal, these girls have found the courage to stand up for their freedom. By running away from home, they want to change their lives. But what are their chances? As an official institution in Iranian society, the shelter is forced to abide by the law. Despite this, the charismatic and resolute Ms. Shirazi, who runs the center, always finds a way to rethink the relationship between the parents and the runaways. The filmmakers follow some cases, from the moment the girls enter the center until they return home. The intervening story is about the pain, humiliation and anger of Iranian girls who are opposed by their loved ones.
