RocKabul plot

The first heavy metal band in Afghanistan is District Unknown, a group of autodidacts with more enthusiasm than musicianship. They were discovered in 2009 by musician and filmmaker Travis Beard, who follows them in their pioneering days with the camera and coaches them in the development of their careers. Their musical advancement is certainly not the only challenge: rock music is seen by religious fanatics in Afghanistan as a diabolical invention and its practitioners are outlawed.
