Querido Camilo plot

On May 21, 2004, 28-year-old military man Camilo Mejía was court-martialed and sentenced to one year in prison. “Dear Camilo” tells his story, from his own perspective but also from that of his parents and a school friend. It is the story of a naive but intelligent young man who grows up in a revolutionary environment in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. He decides to join the American army, but when he first experiences the ravages of the war in Iraq, he has serious doubts. He decides to refuse further service in Iraq. He thus becomes the first conscientious objector in the US military.
