Qiu plot
Director Ma Li observes the patients of a mental asylum in northern China for a year. Many of them have been housed here for years, but there are no traces of their residence. The walls are not decorated with pictures and there are no personal belongings on the bedside tables of the dorm. The detainees wear pajamas with the same pattern day and night. If someone still wears a sweater, it is seen as an act of resistance. As the seasons change, any hope of ever experiencing freedom again wanes.
