Præsidenten plot

January 2009 seemed to be a historic moment for the EU: for the first time a president of the European Union would be elected. But Irish voters voted against, and that put the EU in perhaps its worst crisis yet. The 27 heads of state had to look for a solution. A historic political power play began, out of view of the public.
