Playing with Shadows plot

In a last-ditch effort to turn his hobby into a job, 27-year-old Li Zi, a passionate shadow puppeteer, enrolls in a sort of "China's Got Talent." His mother would rather see him in a more lucrative, regular job, because "girls want to marry a man with a house and a car". However, the optimistic Li Zi does his best to protect the disappearing ancient folk art, even though he is discouraged by the authoritarian Chinese society, family and even friends.
