Pink Saris plot

Documentary about a group of women activists in Northern India who oppose the exploitation of so-called 'outcaste' women. The Gulabi Gang - literally 'the pink gang' after the color of their saris - is an association of women's activists concerned with the plight of Dalit women in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The Dalit are the lowest social class in traditional Indian society. They are the so-called 'outcastes' or 'untouchables'. The women in this social group have it even harder than the men if possible. They are often exploited, humiliated and mistreated by their employers or by their husband's family, who they have to live with after their marriage. But they find support from the Gulabi Gang, led by the energetic Sampat Pal.
