Piao plot
Yang Jiwei, a 30-year-old rural musician, brings his guitar to Guangzhou to earn money performing in the underground public space. Like many migrants who do not have a residence permit to stay in this southern metropolis, he constantly evades the authorities. The camera follows the musician's daily life as he performs in pedestrian tunnels and copes with his tumultuous romantic life, marked by abortion, suicide attempts and a bad break-up. As the film progresses, we see that the filmmaker becomes deeply involved in the precarious existence of his subject.
