Photographic Memory plot
Filmmaker Ross McElwee increasingly has conflicts with his adolescent son, who is mainly concerned with the internet. The father decides to travel to St. Quay-Portrieux, a place he last visited when he was his son's age. There he worked as a photographer's assistant and hopes to track down his old employer. He also wants to find Maud, a woman with whom he had a relationship at the time. 'Photographic Memory' is about the passage of time, working with photography and film; digital versus analog. The documentary is also about a father's broken love for his son.
