Peace One Day plot
'Peace One Day' follows Gilley's long journey through NGOs, Nobel Prize winners, religious organizations, multinationals, universities, schools, and various political and cultural leaders. As the Peace One day organization grows steadily and more and more people join and pledge their support, Gilley travels the world speaking with key decision makers and opinion leaders. His experience as an actor helps him convince luminaries such as Kofi Annan, the Dalai Lama and Shimon Peres of his ideas in the few minutes allotted to him. They listen to him sympathetically, but there are no concrete results. There are doubts: how can one non-violent day a year contribute to peace in the world? But the longer his journey takes and the farther away the target seems, the more Gilley becomes engrossed in his mission. One thing is always clear to him: "When you build a house, you also start with the first stone, so why not start with one day when building world peace?". The film Peace One Day shows how the initiative of one person can grow into a worldwide movement. Now, after more than five years, the UN has finally officially backed Gilley's idea in the form of a resolution. International Day of Peace now takes place on September 21 every year. This is far from the end of the war, but it is a hopeful and inspiring start.
