Patient plot
A concerned mother threatens to lose her daughter to an aggressive cancer. Stripped of any cinematic emotion, this observational documentary grows into a plea against the brutal bureaucracy in which Colombia's healthcare has become entangled. The camera takes three angles: on a tripod at the end of the long, white hospital corridor, where on the right is the door to the dying daughter's room, cleaners mop the floor and nurses and doctors go about their daily routine. In the wake of the exhausted, limping mother, who has to go through endless corridors again and again to extract life-saving medicines from the system, spend hours in waiting rooms and then be sent from pillar to post again. And a third camera films the loving mother in the face as she takes care of her child, talks to her, feeds her or keeps watch. Day and night, because the system does not provide for this care...
