Patagonia Rising plot
In the past century, more than 45,000 river dams were built around the world, with disastrous results. Descending the Baker River from the North Patagonian Ice Sheet, 'Patagonia Rising' investigates a controversial plan to build five major hydroelectric dams in Chile's famed wasteland. Residing in the most remote Patagonian ranches, this story gives a voice to the iconic South American cowboys, the Gauchos, who are the prisoners of an ever-growing demand for energy. Chile can become a leader in sustainable energy development, or it can continue on the path to sheer waste of watersheds in Patagonia.
