Off and Running plot

"A Jewish, African-American Adopted Daughter...and her Search for Self"

Avery Klein-Cloud was lovingly raised as the adopted child of two lesbian, white, Jewish women, along with two adoptive brothers; one mixed race and the other Korean. But her curiosity about her African roots rears its ugly head and she decides to contact her biological mother. She finds herself in a difficult quest to discover race and identity and the family that wants to take her away from her adoptive family. She then stays away from home, from school more often and her sports career is also at risk.
