During the August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, hundreds of outspoken neo-Nazis, white supremacists, far-right militants and Ku Klux Klan members walked the streets of Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. 32-year-old Heather Heyer was killed and more than 30 others injured when an outspoken white supremacist drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters. In the aftermath of this deadly rally, a civil lawsuit was filed against white nationalist leaders and organizations on behalf of plaintiffs who suffered injuries during the peaceful counter-protest. This documentary chronicles this groundbreaking civil rights trial, exposes a broad network of conspirators, and describes the challenges of holding these leaders and organizations accountable for their actions.
