Nedar plot
Personal identity and the reconstruction of memories and the past are the theme of Carla Subirana's film 'Nadar'. She reflects on the loss of family and collective memory. Subirana grew up in an environment of women. Her anti-Franquist grandfather was executed after the Spanish Civil War in 1940 for committing three armed robberies. When Subirana begins her quest for this ever-silent subject, her grandmother already has Alzheimer's disease, and her mother suffers from the same condition. In her film, Subirana compares the process of making, which took many years, to swimming underwater and threatening to drown.
