My Reincarnation plot
"An Epic Twenty-Year Journey"
In 1989, documentary filmmaker Jennifer Fox took a break from filmmaking and traveled for two years as secretary to the Tibetan Buddhist Lama Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche on his international lectures. But what started as a small film project would last two decades. The title rinpoche, "the precious one," is given to llamas in embodiment. The Tibetan living in Italy is one of the last incarnate, trained spiritual masters in Dzogchen meditation. Fox filmed his lectures, his private life and the meeting with an old friend, the Holy Dalai Lama. During that time, Fox also met Yeshi, the Italian-born son of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. This was recognized at birth as the reincarnation of Khyentse Rinpoche Chökyi Wangchug: uncle and master of his father. All signs pointed to that. Yeshi chose a career in business over following in the footsteps of his father, with whom he has a complicated relationship. Yet, as time goes on, Yeshi also feels the pressure to continue the cultural legacy of his ancestors. Now that his father is getting older, Yeshi decides to take responsibility.
