Monsterland plot

"Monsterland" travels through time and around the world in search of different monster types, from the original latex monster ("Godzilla") that originated in World War II-ravaged Japan, to the aliens and serial killers of American cinema from the 1980s, to the arrival of King Kong's digital successors in the 21st century. Director Jörg Buttgereit, himself a monster fan and director of horror films, brings the great connoisseurs and masters of the monster genre in front of the camera: monster makers like the creator of the 'Gremlins', Joe Dante, horror director John Carpenter, monster designers like HR Giger ("Alien") and painter Joe Coleman, special effects guru Gregory Nicotero, makeup artist Rick Baker and Godzilla performer Kenpachiro Satsuma.
