Monster in the Mind plot
Thirty years ago, medical journalist Jean Carper made a CNN documentary about Alzheimer's, a disease that has become widely recognized as one of the greatest threats to aging Western society. At the time, the prediction was that a cure for the disease would be found within thirty years. Carper, who is over eighty years old, is herself a carrier of the gene that is found in people with Alzheimer's and is now at a critical age, travels the (medical) world to see how the research is progressing. She questions scientists and other experts and is subjected to all kinds of tests to find out how big the chance is that she herself will get the dreaded disease.
