Mixed Match plot
Multiracial people, called "hapa" in North America, are probably the fastest growing population in the world. Because of their complex genetic makeup, mixed race patients have trouble finding bone marrow or red blood cell donors. Asian and African ethnicities are already scarce in the existing databases, mixed race profiles are even rarer. Director Jeff Chiba Stearns was unaware that this biological issue could impact himself and his children until he made this documentary about it. His research focuses the spotlight on Mixed Marrow, an organization in the service of registering multi-ethnic people on a donor list.
