Maxima plot

What looks like a barren plot of land high up in the Peruvian Andes is the center of their lives for Máxima and her family. They tend their livestock, grow vegetables, pick medicinal herbs and obtain drinking water from the mountain lake. But the breathtaking aerial shots of the landscape we see are marred by a huge crater: this 200-meter-deep inverted pyramid is the nearby gold mine, one of the largest in the world. The mining company wants to expand, also to the land of Máxima. An excessive police force knocks the family out of their farm, fueling Máxima's militancy.
