Mama plot

Ma'MaQueen has created a safe haven for her six drag children, all of whom cannot count on the understanding of their biological relatives at home. The rejection of your family creates personal problems and a negative self-image. Being drag makes them temporarily forget all this. The turbulent search for identity and acceptance within a society where pigeonholing is the norm, is not a bed of roses in this documentary.

Ma'Ma Queen is a Drag Queen who, in her “House of Holographic Holograms” in Rotterdam, takes care of fellow sufferers who have been disturbed by their family and/or had to flee their country of birth because of their sexual preference or orientation. Although the 'children' differ greatly in background and personality, they find the security and unconditional love (sometimes with a heavy hand) that they could only dream of for a long time. The glamorously filmed interludes only underline how dry the rest of this documentary is. The subject is relevant and this documentary has been made with integrity, but anyone who has seen Pose will hardly be warm or cold by this.
