Makhdoumin plot
For an estimated population of 4 million, Lebanon has some 200,000 foreign domestic workers hired under a system that deprives them of basic rights. Implemented since the start of the civil war (1975), this system is borrowed from similar projects in the Gulf States. It is based on a transaction where the employee does not offer a service, but is rather commercialized as a product, offered by specialized organizations that provide new growth in conditions reminiscent of slavery. Director Maher Abi Samra places his camera in the offices of the El Raed agency with the full cooperation of the owner Zein.
