Lora - Testimonies plot
A sham trial from 2002 on torture in the Lora prison in Split shows how justice is still hard to find in the aftermath of the war in the former Yugoslavia. The film offers a historical reconstruction supplemented with testimonies from former prisoners and an interview with a Croatian general who downplays the events. It is certain that of the more than a thousand prisoners, the majority – including civilians – were held in Lora Prison without official grounds. Between sixty and seventy people died there. Bizarre low point is the judge who uses his opening statement to congratulate the national football team on a victory.
