Lettera al Presidente plot
Rome, June 2, 2013. The day of the Festa della Repubblica, the celebration of the day in 1946 on which the referendum was held that determined that Italy became a republic. Three men queue in front of the Quirinale Palace, the presidential residence that traditionally opens its gardens on this national holiday. In 1969 they, boys in a small village, sent a letter to the president. In the euphoria after the American moon landing, they asked him to help them get to Mars. That letter is still preserved in the presidential archives, along with the thousands of other letters sent personally to their presidents by Italian citizens over the decades.
