Le Piège plot
From countries such as Liberia, Benin, Burkina Fasso and Nigeria, many Africans make the dangerous crossing via Libya to Italy, the gateway to the prosperous West. The film opens with a meeting between Moamar Gaddafi and Silvio Berlusconi: to stem the illegal migration flow from Libya, the two heads of state reach an agreement. In exchange for a hefty bag of money, Gaddafi promises to better guard his borders and build more detention centers. A few heavily loaded trucks drive through the motionless Sahara. On board mostly young men with destination Italy. They are followed on their perilous journey by the documentary maker Alexandre Dereims. Food and water for many days is taken with them, but with fear in their eyes they tell that bad luck on the way can be fatal...
